36th Colonial Subscription Ball - Saturday 27th August 2016
at Maitland Town Hall with the Coalbrook Band

This 36th BMC Subscription Ball is a Colonial-style ball, but also includes some older and several more modern dances; these dances come from a variety of genres including Playford, Modern English and Celtic. The Ball will be held at Maitland Town Hall, which has one of the best sprung dance floors in the country.

Please arrive at the Maitland Town Hall (High Street, Maitland, NSW) from 6pm. Preferred dress is formal and in keeping with Australia's Colonial period. THis year we have an optional colour scheme of red, white and green - the Welsh colours. Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 6:30pm. There will be two further supper breaks. Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the evening.

The Ball will commence with a Grand March at 7pm. Dances will be re-capped and called or, for couples' dances, led from the floor. There will be no walk-throughs. Attendance at one or more of the practices is highly recommended so that you can relax and fully enjoy the ambience of the Ball. The practices themselves provide enjoyable days/ evenings of dance in a much less formal setting.

Recovery Picnic

The BBQ/picnic/informal dance will again be held on the Sunday following the Ball, 28th August, from 11:00am at Marmong Park, George Street, Marmong Point on the west side of beautiful Lake Macquarie. The Marmong Point Community Hall there will provide a dance floor and shelter from the weather (if required). There is a large grassy area with shade trees and a view of Lake Macquarie. The Lake foreshore is nearby and the renowned Lake Macquarie Art Gallery is a few minutes drive away in a lovely setting by the Lake.

(Google Maps link).

Please BYO chairs if possible, other drinks and dancing shoes. Musicians, please bring your instruments.
